Give Kwasniewski's Homo Optimus diet a try

Get a jumpstart to new health !

I've been experimenting with lots of different diets and lately with the Homo Optimus Diet by Jan Kwasniewski. I feel confident to write a short instruction manual on how to get started with boosting your health back to natural levels by using this diet.

The diet is very high in fats and primarily saturated fats. These fats are the easiest for the body to handle and yield the highest amount of energy per gram. The biggest part of the diet is fat which serves as the primary fuel source.

You should also eat the right amount of animal protein. Protein serves as the building blocks for your body (muscles and other tissue) but also as precursors for many different enzymes and hormones.

Carbohydrates are also an important part of the diet, but the amounts one can eat are strictly defined. Eat too much of it, and you will probably face problems with the arteries and the heart, insulin, triglyceride and cholesterol will be elevated. Eat too few of it, and your body will move into ketosis, which in itself isn't all that bad, but it does add some strain to the body and it causes the body to loose some of its essential minerals.

The Homo Optimus diet defines the ratio between proteins, fats and carbohydrates as 1 vs. 2.5 - 3.5 vs. 0.5 - 0.8.
So, for each gram of protein you eat, you should eat between 2.5 and 3.5 grams of fat and 0.5 - 0.8 grams of carbohydrates.
With proteins, fats and carbohydrates I mean the dry weights of the actual proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Most foods have all three of these macro-nutrients in them, so it takes some calculations to stay in the right margins. But over time, you will automatically know which foods you can eat and stay within the margins.

Step 1: Order the two books

Step 2: Start with the sample diet on the Homo Optimus website

As you will notice, many of these recipes use pork meat and organ meats. These are essential for success on this diet. It's also very important to eat at least 4 egg yolks per day. Egg yolk is very high in minerals, vitamins and it has the best quality protein and fat one can find in nature. Liver and kidneys should be eaten at least once per week.
Once again, remember to eat enough *saturated* fats. This is the fuel your body prefers and which makes the liver work the best.

Don't despair if you don't receive the book after these 7 days. Even though you only have recipes for 7 days, you can just re-use these recipes for another 7 days.

Step 3: Get the Calculus Victus program which contains many recipes
This is a really nice program. It includes many recipes and photo's and can be used to calculate the right proportions of the three macro-nutrients.
It's shareware, which means you can use it for about 30 days. After that you should pay to continue using it:

Step 4: Become a member of the Homo Optimus forum

Also read the questions and answers in the forum. That way you can learn more and more about the diet.

Step 5: Receive the book and read it
After some time, you should receive the books. You can start reading it and learn the principles of the diet. There are also many more recipes in the book.

Step 6: Fine-tune the diet
After some time you will know which foods you like best and how to prepare them. In the beginning you should eat more protein, because the body needs protein to rebuild the damage done in the past. After a few months when most of the regeneration is done, you can decrease protein to an amount of 50 grams per day.
After a while you will probably stop eating three meals per day and move back to 2 or even 1 large meal per day. You're then effectively fasting 90% of the day which further improves the efficacy of this diet.

Specific tips for specific disease
Kwasniewski says to use specific tissues of pork to treat those same specific tissues that are weakened in your body. For example, people suffering from Multiple Sclerosis should seriously consider including pork brain, nerves and collagen in their diet.

If, like me, you can't digest the small amounts of starch and lactose in the Homo Optimus diet, you can try to alter the diet a bit by using home-made sour-cream instead of (normal, sweet) cream. Instead of the potatoes or starch use berries, strawberries and an orange or grapefruit per day to get the needed carbohydrates.
