SCDiet Books

The theory of the SCDiet, lots of background info and many recipes can be read in the book Breaking The Vicious Cycle, written by Elaine Gottschal. Her daughter suffered from Ulcerative Colitis in the sixties. Her condition got worse and worse. She came to know Dr. Haas who prescribed a diet in which no undigested carbohydrates were allowed. The diet worked very well and within some time Elaine's daughter was symptom free.

Elaine got very fascinated by this diet and she decided to follow a medical course at an American University. She became a B.A. Med.Sc. In the nineties she figured out the theory and by combining the findings of many modern scientifical studies, she wrote a book in which she explained the theory of the SCDiet. Since then many people have become completely symptomfree from Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis.

The first part of the book Breaking The Vicious Cycle explains the SCDiet theory and explains very well exactly how our food is digested. After reading this theory I was convinced. I read the book all over again.. It's written very nicely. I started the diet instantaneously. The recipes are listed in the 2nd part of the book.

Within a week, my flatulence was completely gone, as was my belching, my blown-up feeling and the pain in the intestines/stomach had also disappeared. I started to gain weight very rapidly and my bloodworks turned ok within months. Now, a year later I am still completely symptom-free and my bloodworks are perfect. I've gained eight kilo's. I've been free of all medications for more than a year.
